We didn't expect much in such a small town and were blown away by the hospitality and delicious food. Initially just wanting to order takeaway burgers, we quickly found ourselves with a beer in the garden watching the sunset.
The creative heart of Philippolis.
Karoo Artist's Cafe lives in the town's first school building, built in the 1830s, on Tobie Muller Street.
Today it's the most popular spot for dinner in Philippolis, and a home for creative and cultural events. Inside you'll find a long dining hall, walls of books, art and a fireplace for chilly Karoo nights. Outside, a garden with a view of the sunset.
Our food takes time, because it's made properly. Don't be in a hurry: order a drink, sit back and enjoy the company.
